About Network Code

On April 8, 2016, the Network Code (CR) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. It was issued by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and establishes the criteria of efficiency, quality, reliability, continuity, security and sustainability of the National Electric System (SEN).

The foregoing establishes an even floor for the Power Generators, the National Transmission Network, the General Distribution Networks and the Load Centers. This document is immediately mandatory and granted a three-year grace period to Load Centers (users) for full compliance.

On December 31, 2021, the update to this regulation was published and is known as the Network Code 2.0.

The benefits of complying with the CR include security and reliability, coupled with investment returns and economic aspects for all participants of the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM).
